Kyoto

April 2025

Thousands of vermilion torii gates, quiet moss gardens, and lantern-lit alleys where old Japan still breathes.

I spent a week walking Kyoto before sunrise, when the Fushimi Inari trail belongs to no one. The city rewards the slow traveler, so I traded my itinerary for tea houses, temple courtyards, and long conversations with a lantern maker in Gion. Every morning began with mist over the eastern hills and ended with the soft clatter of geta sandals on stone.
